ORLANDO, FL (April 28, 2021) – Nautique celebrated Earth Day this week with a volunteer work day dedicated to protecting local waterways. Under the Nautique Cares initiative, several team members volunteered their time in order to label storm drains throughout the area to prevent stormwater pollution.
Connecting directly to local ponds, rivers and streams, these storm drains see a significant amount of pollutants each year such as oil, excess nitrogen in fertilizer, insecticides, chemicals, sediment from construction sites, pet waste and trash. Partnering with Orange County's Environmental Protection Division, the Nautique team worked hard installing placards on each storm drain in order to create awareness for local residents. Each label serves as a reminder to neighbors that by keeping pollutants out of storm drains, they are doing their part to keep rivers, lakes and springs clean.
“I am really proud of the team here at Nautique for participating and volunteering their time for Earth Day,” said Nautique President Greg Meloon “Giving back to our community and helping others is part of our DNA, and I’m glad our efforts can be traced back to doing our part in keeping our local waterways clean.”
