Have you ever worked somewhere that made you feel like you were surrounded by some of the best people in the world? That’s how I feel, especially after seeing how our team has responded to the recent earthquake in Haiti.

Almost immediately after the earthquake, Nautique employees began collecting items to send to Haiti. Our employees wanted to do something to help and it was exciting to see them step up and donate goods to the Haitian people.

However, even more than giving, many Nautique employees wanted to serve. So, early last Saturday morning, several of us met at the Nautique factory and drove to Ft. Pierce to work with Missionary Flights International (MFI), a great organization working hard to help the Haitian people.

We dropped off a truckload of items donated by Nautique employees and then spent time sorting through and organizing donations from us and others. We also helped unload new items that were brought to MFI while we were there, picked up trash, and emptied many trash cans. Our Director of Operations, Matt McGinnis, and I even got bathroom-cleaning duty! It was work but it was also a great feeling to know that in some small way we could help.

While I am happy that Nautique employees would step up to help in a situation like this, it is nothing unusual for our team. We serve in our local area through organizations such as “Give Kids the World� and the Central Florida “Coalition for the Homeless�. The past three years we have taken groups of Nautique employees to foreign countries (twice to Mexico and once to Nicaragua) to serve those less fortunate. We are currently planning a mission trip with a group of Nautique employees later this summer to serve in Guatemala.

At Nautique we not only build the world’s best boats but we also have an incredible team with servant’s hearts. We not only want people to enjoy our boats, we also want to use our resources to help where we can.
