This past weekend, in West Palm Beach, was exciting as we brought the Big Dawg Finals back to Okeeheelee Park. This exciting event was once again held at night and under the lights. And, it did not disappoint!

Competitors all over the world competed in preliminary events throughout 2011 to qualify as one of the fifty top skiers who were invited to compete in the Big Dawg Finals. The season kicked off earlier this year in Peru with the first ever Big Dawg event held in South America. Other events included qualifiers in Texas and Michigan and, of course, our first ever European Big Dawg event in France.

The competition started out strong on Friday with amazing scores recorded in the preliminary rounds behind the Ski Nautique 200. Skiers were forced to be on their “A” game for a chance to advance to Saturday. The skiers delivered and so did the incredible Ski Nautique 200 which was pulling remarkable scores and helping elevate the competition.

By Saturday night the field was narrowed down to eight. Okeeheelee Park was lit up and the lighted buoys provided excitement for the crowds on the beach as the event was starting. The competition was phenomenal but there could only be one winner which for 2011 is Kyle Tate of Central Florida. Congrats Kyle on a great night!

Once again the world record setting Ski Nautique 200 provided the world’s best ski pull for the incredible Big Dawg competitors providing them the opportunity to do their best on one of our sport’s biggest stages.

Speaking of the Ski Nautique 200, we are excited that this boat has once again proven itself by pulling Clementine Lucine to two new world records (pending IWWF final approval). Clem is an incredible athlete and now is the first female skier to reach 10,000 trick points; and she did it behind the Ski Nautique 200! She also broke the women’s overall record posting outstanding scores in jump, tricks and slalom, all behind the Ski Nautique.

At Nautique we are happy to not only provide the world’s best boats but also support our industry by putting on many great events like the Big Dawg.
